I held on to your face / I did it ‘cause / your face is so beautiful / yeah, I held on to your face / I did not know / that it was illegal. This is one of the phrases that Chad Jasmine is about to etch into your mind. More than one record label, both major and independent, are hot on the heels of Jacksonville’s Chad Jasmine. If the fierce bidding war has not already begun, the major label I spoke to in NY is ready to get started. The word from top level label contacts in the Big Apple is “Chad Jasmine is amazing.” A listen to his self produced Parlay Records release takes the listener on an addictive trip. A little bit G. Love, a nod to the performance art of Laurie Anderson (he’s shared stages and equal billing with both of these artists, as well as Jim Carroll, Nick Cave, and Patti Smith), the music this guy makes truly spins your head.
